Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon was stopped from proposing housing policy at his first Cabinet meeting attendance

President Lee Jaemyung and Seoul Mayor Oh Sehoon met face to face for the first time at the Cabinet meeting at the Blue House on the 14th. Mayor Oh had intended to express his views on Seoul’s housing policy, but a subtle sense of tension arose as Prime Minister Han Seongsook and President Lee responded by briefly summarizing the remarks or putting them off until later. Mayor Oh said he would submit a report containing improvements to real estaterelated systems, including private redevelopment projects, rental housing, and tax policy, and President Lee requested a status report that included the progress of reconstruction and redevelopment projects as well as the causes of the housing supply shortage. Afterwards, just before the open meeting was turned into a closed session, President Lee congratulated Mayor Oh on his election and gave him a chance to offer greetings, but said the detailed explanation about housing administration should be left for “later,” and no further remarks followed. At a press conference after the meeting, Mayor Oh said he was disappointed that he did not get enough opportunity to explain. A Blue House official said the submitted report would be reviewed closely.
