Naval ship formation arrives in Hong Kong, carrying out open tours and cultural exchanges
Nanning ship arrives in Hong Kong for open tours, allowing firsthand experience of national defense and naval development in the new era 5-day cultural exchange activities, welcoming Hong Kong and Macao residents and young people to board the ship up close and experience it
On July 2, a naval formation composed of the PLA Navy guidedmissile destroyer Nanning and guidedmissile frigate Hengyang arrived in Hong Kong, launching a 5day program of open visits and cultural exchange activities. This trip coincides with the 29th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, and it is also the first time Nanning and Hengyang have docked in Hong Kong.
That morning, under the escort of vessels from the Hong Kong SAR Government fleet and the Hong Kong Garrison, the formation entered Victoria Harbour and docked at Stonecutters Island Barracks. Representatives from the Hong Kong SAR Government, central government offices in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Garrison, as well as Hong Kong citizens and young people, were present to greet them. Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee delivered a speech at the welcome ceremony, expressing a warm welcome.
From July 3 to 5, Nanning and Hengyang will be open to the public, including residents of Hong Kong and Macao, young students, and others. During this period, activities such as military experiences, training demonstrations, and cultural performances will also be arranged to help the public gain a more direct understanding of the development of national defense and military building in the new era.
