The report reviews how, when he went to Germany for a visit and study in 1976, he came into contact with lithium nitride materials and then turned to research in solidstate ionics. After that, against the backdrop of limited domestic research conditions, he led his team in persistent efforts to overcome key challenges, successively developing China’s first solidstate lithium battery and liquid lithiumion battery, and promoting the establishment of a pilot production line that solved multiple technical problems in largescale production.
With the rapid development of China’s new energy vehicle industry, lithium battery technology has continued to advance.
