The Supreme Prosecutors' Office said it would quickly set up a joint investigation headquarters with participation from both prosecutors and police to investigate the shortage of ballot papers that occurred in the June 3 local elections.
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office explained that the case affected the public's exercise of political rights, and that it would cooperate with the police to efficiently investigate the circumstances of the incident and strictly uncover the allegations raised.
This measure was taken in accordance with President Lee Jaemyung's instructions, and the president pointed to the National Election Commission's responsibility for election management, ordering that the joint investigation headquarters thoroughly identify where responsibility lies and uncover the full details of the case.
