Two Food Technology Special Forums Held at the Annual Conference of the China Association for Science and Technology
The Food Technology Forum focused on food biomanufacturing and future foods, addressing challenges in industrialization and commercialization. Academicians and experts jointly discussed safety validation, standards and regulations, and product development, helping innovation take root.
The 28th Annual Conference of the China Association for Science and Technology recently held two special forums in Beijing focused on food technology, namely “Frontier Controversies and Industrial Challenges in Food Biomanufacturing” and “Future Food Manufacturing and Product Innovation.” The forums invited academicians, experts, scholars, and corporate representatives to exchange views on topics including food biomanufacturing, future foods, testing and inspection, standards and regulations, and industrial transformation.
At the forum on “Frontier Controversies and Industrial Challenges in Food Biomanufacturing,” participants discussed issues such as safety validation, testing and certification, AIassisted R&D, pilotscale validation, and market access, and reached a consensus on advancing testing and inspection to the R&D stage, strengthening pilotscale adaptation validation, and improving coordination between standards and regulation.
At the forum on “Future Food Manufacturing and Product Innovation,” the discussion focused on areas such as synthetic biology, fermentation engineering, functional oils and fats, utilization of marine biological resources, biosynthesis of functional additives, and rapid testing technologies. Representatives also exchanged views on product innovation in areas such as nutritional ingredients for the elderly, DHAfortified dairy products, precision probiotics, postbiotics, and allulose, emphasizing the need to make technological breakthroughs translate more smoothly into industrial applications.
