On September 22, a highlevel meeting on the TransCaspian International Transport Corridor was held in Beijing. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Transport of China and organized by the China International Sustainable Transportation Innovation and Knowledge Center. More than 200 participants, including government officials, representatives from embassies and consulates, international organizations, and businesses from multiple countries, attended the meeting.
The meeting noted that the TransCaspian International Transport Corridor is an important passage connecting the Eurasian continent and an important part of the Belt and Road Initiative. Participants said that in recent years, the interconnection of relevant infrastructure, alignment of rules and standards, and the level of transport services have continued to improve. In the first seven months of this year, both ChinaEurope freight trains and ChinaEurope road direct freight volumes achieved relatively rapid growth.
The meeting also noted that the corridor still has room for improvement in areas such as railways, highways, ports, and customs clearance facilitation. All parties released an initiative to promote the corridor's expansion and efficiency gains, and proposed strengthening cooperation in policy coordination, infrastructure connectivity, transport efficiency, customs clearance digitalization, and peopletopeople exchanges.
