The Supreme Court has 공개ed 28 candidates for the successor to Supreme Court Justice Lee Heunggu, who will retire in September. The candidates were selected from among 87 people recommended both inside and outside the court, and consist of 27 sitting judges and one professor. The candidate list includes many judges, such as Seoul High Court Chief Judge Lee Jaekwon, Seoul High Court Judge Jeong Jaeoh, Busan District Court Chief Judge Kim Moonkwan, and Seoul Western District Court Chief Judge Kim Taeup. There are two female candidates: Kim Yeyoung, Chief Judge of the Seoul Southern District Court, and Lim Haeji, Chief Judge of the Daegu Family Court. The only nonjudge is Professor Ham Myungho of Korea University Law School. Son Bonggi, a senior judge of the Daegu District Court who had been recommended in January as a successor to former Supreme Court Justice Noh Taeak, was also included again on this list.
