Chief Presidential Secretary Kang Hoonsik said that the situation is neck and neck regarding the 60 trillion won Canadian submarine contract project.
In a joint interview on the 1st with the Blue House New Media Press Corps, Secretary Kang explained that Korea has made a sincere and feasible proposal, and that Canada is also making a careful judgment. He said that it is a structure in which both Canada and Korea can benefit, while adding that Germany, a competing country, has strengths in submarine technology and in being a key NATO member.
Secretary Kang has visited Canada twice in his capacity as a special envoy for strategic economic cooperation for President Lee Jaemyung, supporting the contract efforts. He also expressed his intention to push ahead with the three mega projects, largescale regional investment initiatives, faster than before, and said that a dedicated system operating directly under the Blue House is also under review.
