Hainan Creates an Electronic Map of Urban and Rural Historical and Cultural Resources

The electronic map of urban and rural historical and cultural resources in Hainan integrates resources such as famous cities, towns, and villages making it easier to query their locations and values, and helping enhance cultural tourism experiences and precise protection planning

Hainan is advancing the construction of an “electronic map of urbanrural historical and cultural resources,” bringing the historical and cultural resources scattered across different areas into a unified digital platform to make it easier for the public and tourists to find their locations, development history, and cultural value. According to reports, Hainan currently has a wide range of resources, including famous historical and cultural cities, towns, and villages, traditional villages, historic and cultural blocks, and historic buildings. Relevant departments also organized a special survey last year to further identify potential historical and cultural resources in old urban areas and old neighborhoods, providing a basis for precise protection. Hainan also plans to connect the electronic map with cultural and tourism applications, and to incorporate historical and cultural protection requirements into land and spatial planning, land approval, and planning permit procedures, promoting more standardized and traceable protection of cultural relics and historical and cultural heritage.
