Bukang returned inside the canal, over the installed net
Why did Bukang the shark at Bukhang Waterfront Park return to the canal? Check quickly from the authorities' response to its current movements
The shark ‘Bukangi,’ which had been staying at Bukhang Waterfront Park in Donggu, Busan, crossed over the net installed by the authorities to guide it back to the sea and moved back inside the waterway.
The Busan Maritime Police Station and related agencies had installed a large net measuring 50 meters in length and 6.8 meters in height the previous day to guide Bukangi toward the open sea, but it is believed that as the tide rose and the water depth increased, a gap formed at the top of the net. Bukangi was reported to have lingered around the net during the day on the 3rd before entering the waterway through this gap.
The authorities have decided to observe Bukangi's movements for the time being, and the net has been removed to secure a passage for it to head out to the open sea. The National Institute of Fisheries Science plans to continue monitoring Bukangi's movements and health condition, and to consider additional measures if any abnormal behavior is observed.
