The Masan Dongbu Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 5th that it had arrested and sent to prosecutors a man in his 50s, identified as A, on charges of stabbing an acquaintance multiple times with a weapon while intoxicated, causing the victim's death. The incident occurred at A's residence in Masanhoewongu, Changwonsi, on the afternoon of the 21st of last month.
According to the police, the victim was B, an acquaintance in his 60s. Right after the crime, paramedics who were dispatched after receiving a report found B in cardiac arrest and transported him to the hospital, but he ultimately died. A called 119 that same day and said he had cut his finger, but the crime was uncovered during the response process and he was arrested in the act.
In questioning, A stated that he was drunk and did not remember anything, and the police believe he may have been in a blackout state due to excessive drinking. Police said they believe the two men had been drinking together for the three days leading up to the incident, and explained that no clear conflict or financial issue was confirmed.
