According to a July 3 report from Sun Yatsen University, the Central Committee has approved Tang Hongwu to serve as President of Sun Yatsen University and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.
On the same day, Sun Yatsen University held a meeting of teachers and cadres. A responsible official from the Organization Department of the Central Committee attended the meeting to announce the Central Committee’s decision. Relevant leaders from the Ministry of Education and the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee also attended the meeting and delivered remarks. Liu Chenggong, the Party Committee Secretary of the university, presided over the meeting.
Public information shows that Tang Hongwu was born in September 1966. He holds a doctoral degree in engineering, is a member of the Communist Party of China, a professor, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He previously served as Party Committee Secretary of Hohai University, and as Deputy Party Committee Secretary, President, and Party Committee Secretary of South China University of Technology.
