Bucangi, the famous attraction of Busan North Port, rescue operation fails again

Busan North Port shark Bucangi rescue: Why was the channel escape operation halted? Check the on-site situation and future measures amid difficulties after the special net was deployed

A rescue operation to return the shark ‘Bukangi,’ which had been staying in the waterway of Bukhang Waterfront Park in Donggu, Busan, to the sea was carried out on the 2nd, but it ultimately could not be completed. Busan City, the National Institute of Fisheries Science, and the Coast Guard tried to guide Bukangi out using a special net about 50 meters long, but the net could not be deployed smoothly because of the condition of the waterway floor and obstacles, and the operation was suspended. The relevant agencies plan to discuss additional measures, believing that the net and sinkers got caught. Bukangi, estimated to be about 3 meters long, drew great attention after being first discovered on the 18th. As the number of local visitors increased significantly and it became a hot topic on social media, Busan City even appointed Bukangi as an honorary ambassador. However, due to concerns over safety accidents and ecological management issues, the relevant agencies have ultimately been pursuing its rescue.
