President Lee to the prosecution: “You must not act as if you are infallible... if you make a mistake, you should apologize and retract it”

President Lee Jaemyung said at the State Council meeting and emergency economic review meeting on the 2nd that the prosecution should apologize and retract if it has done something wrong, and that institutions should guard against the attitude of regarding themselves as infallible. The presidential office explained that this remark meant that the greater the authority of an institution, the greater the corresponding responsibility required. After receiving a business report from the acting Prosecutor General, President Lee emphasized that the prosecution, as a quasijudicial body, must uphold public interest and objectivity. At the meeting that day, the relicensing and reapproval procedures for comprehensive programming channels and the Broadcasting Media Communications Commission were also discussed. President Lee pointed out issues with fairness in some broadcasts and said that responsibility must follow as much as protection does. Regarding the expansion of voting rights for overseas Koreans, he said that even if parliamentary discussions are difficult, it should be handled without delay.
