The Incheon West Police Station announced on the 19th that it had booked without detention a man in his 20s, identified as A, who was driving a private ambulance and caused an accident by running a red light at an intersection in Cheongnadong, Seogu, Incheon, on the 1st, on charges of causing death and injury under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents. According to the police, A was transporting a 92yearold patient who had received treatment at a nursing hospital to a nursing home when he forcefully entered the intersection even though it was not an emergency, with the flashing lights and alarm sounding. In the process, the ambulance collided with an SUV that was proceeding straight on a green light, and the patient being transported died. Three people in the ambulance and three people in the SUV were also injured in the accident. The police recently questioned A and plan to send the case to the prosecution soon.
