Diplomatic authorities of South Korea, the U.S., and Japan reaffirm coordination on North Korea in their first talks since the North Korea-China summit

The diplomatic authorities of South Korea, the United States, and Japan have decided to strengthen trilateral cooperation in response to North Korea's nuclear and missile threats. At a workinglevel meeting held in Tokyo, officials in charge of North Korea affairs from the three countries discussed the recent situation on the Korean Peninsula and pending issues related to North Korea. At this consultation, the three countries shared concerns over North Korea's nuclear and missile development and reaffirmed the goal of North Korea's complete denuclearization in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. They also discussed the deepening military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, as well as the issue of financing through cyber activities and cryptocurrency hacking. The meeting also appears to have addressed the changed situation following the summit between Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un, which was held in Pyongyang on the 8th and 9th. Japan expressed its gratitude for the support of the United States and South Korea on the abductee issue.
