The World Digital Education Alliance has expanded its membership to 43 countries and regions

The World Digital Education Alliance brings together 115 members, and the Hangzhou conference will focus on AI + education The conference will release eight achievements and launch the Youth AI Camp to promote global cooperation in digital education

Yang Jun, SecretaryGeneral of the China Education Association for International Exchange and CoSecretaryGeneral of the World Digital Education Alliance, said in Beijing on May 7 that the World Digital Education Alliance has brought together 115 member organizations from 43 countries and regions, with members covering international organizations, universities, research institutions, and enterprises. The Chinese Ministry of Education held a press conference that day to announce that the 2026 World Digital Education Conference will be held from May 11 to 13 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. The theme of the conference is "AI + Education: Transformation, Development, Governance," and it is expected to release eight outcomes, including the "China Smart Education Development Report (2025–2026)", the "Global Digital Education Development Index (2026)", and the "Hangzhou Initiative on Artificial Intelligence Education". The report also noted that the World Digital Education Alliance was established at the first World Digital Education Conference in 2024, and its joint secretariat officially began operations this January. The alliance said it is continuing to admit new members to improve the global cooperation network and enhance its ability to support the digital transformation of education. During the conference, the alliance will also hold, for the first time, a youth AI training camp for high school students worldwide, with 27 teams from 23 countries taking part in exchanges and handson practice.
