Imported car executives appear at the National Assembly audit…BYD, Tesla, and MAN Truck post-sale management issues
Imported car after-sales management, BYD, Tesla, and MAN Truck audit issues…Lack of maintenance network pointed out Check only the key points, from maintenance network and FSD to allegations of abuse of power, and quickly follow the issue flow
On the 7th, the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee summoned officials from BYD Korea, Tesla Korea, and MAN Truck & Bus Korea as witnesses for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport audit, bringing postsale service issues for imported cars to the forefront as a major point of contention. Initially, four people were selected as witnesses, but with two dropping out, the actual number in attendance was cut in half.
The audit is expected to focus on BYD's lack of maintenance infrastructure, Tesla's restrictions on Full SelfDriving (FSD) use and consumer disclosure issues, and transaction relations between MAN Truck and repair shops. In BYD's case, it was pointed out that the entire national service network consists of partner bases, and only some locations can handle collision repairs, leading to longer repair times and higher loss ratios.
Tesla's domestic sales have increased, but its service center workforce is smaller than that of competitors, and the proportion of domestic vehicles that can use FSD is also limited. For MAN Truck, allegations of abusing power against repair shops are a key issue, but with the relevant representative absent, it has become difficult to confirm both sides' positions on site. The Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee is taking the position that it is necessary to more clearly define postsale service obligations, such as maintenance networks and parts supply, for imported car companies that sell above a certain scale.
