On June 10, the team led by Academician Zou Xuexiao from Hunan Agricultural University and Hunan Xiangyan Seed Industry Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Changsha. The two sides will cooperate on innovation in pepper breeding technology, platform development, talent cultivation, and project research. The report指出 that this cooperation will leverage technologies such as genomics, disease and stress resistance evaluation, and haploid and doubledhaploid induction to drive pepper breeding from traditional experiencebased selection to precision breeding. By jointly building a molecular marker database and standardized phenotype identification plots, among other measures, they aim to shorten the breeding cycle and improve the efficiency of material purification. Both sides said the focus of the cooperation will be on developing industrial peppers and highquality fresheating peppers, striving to form a more mature precision breeding technology system in the next few years and launch new varieties with market competitiveness.
