The opposition party expects the appeals court to overturn the first-instance ruling on Oh Se-hoon

Oh Se-hoon first-instance ruling, People Power Party expects reversal on appeal Check the key issues in the ruling and the direction of Seoul city administration amid the ruling and opposition camps’ clash

The People Power Party and some officials from the ruling camp have said they hope the appellate court will reach a different conclusion from the firstinstance ruling on Seoul Mayor Oh Sehoon's case. On the 22nd, People Power Party leader Jang Donghyuk said that he felt deeply disappointed when Mayor Oh was sentenced in the first trial to a fine of 10 million won and an additional collection order of 21 million won in connection with the allegations of proxy payment for a public opinion poll, and that he hoped the truth would be revealed in the higher court. He also said that Seoul city administration must continue without interruption. Floor leader Jeong Jeomsik raised the question of whether the ruling relied too heavily on Mr. Myeong Taegyun's testimony, and said that more thorough verification is needed in the appellate trial. Lawmakers Han Donghoon and Ahn Cheolsoo also questioned the credibility of the related testimony or said they hoped Mayor Oh would continue city administration without wavering. On the other hand, the Democratic Party of Korea argued that Mayor Oh should bear political and legal responsibility. The Democratic Party assessed that this ruling was the court's judgment on violations of the Political Funds Act and the undermining of the electoral system.
