Daqing Drilling's Self-Developed Floatation Technology Helps Shaanxi-Shanxi Coalbed Methane Well Set a New Block Record
Daqing full-bore floatation technology breaks through construction challenges in Shaanxi-Shanxi coalbed methane wells, setting a new block record With a 100% success rate across more than 130 wells, learn about the new completion solution for long horizontal sections now
Daqing, August 5 — Daqing Drilling said on the day that its independently developed fullbore floating technology helped coalbed methane wells in the ShanxiShaanxi area set a new record during construction in the block, and also changed the longstanding perception that “coalbed methane wells must circulate midway when running casing, making floating technology difficult to implement.”
The report noted that Well Jishen 173 Ping 02 and Well Jishen 173 Ping 01 are located in the DaningJixian block of ShanxiShaanxi, and are the first wells in this block in which Daqing Drilling has drilled a horizontal section exceeding 2,000 meters. Due to the complex local geological conditions and the tendency for collapse, the safety window for running casing is short. The project team therefore developed a floating casingrunning plan, and optimized the running position of the tools and the construction workflow in combination with the well conditions and trajectory to improve the success rate of a single run.
So far, this selfdeveloped fullbore floating tool has been used in more than 130 wells, with a success rate of 100%. Relevant units said that in the next step they will continue to summarize construction experience and optimize the tools and supporting processes to adapt to the complex well conditions of the ShanxiShaanxi coalbed methane block and promote the application of longhorizontalsection completion technology.
