Seven departments jointly issued the Disease Prevention and Control "15th Five-Year Plan"

The National Health Commission, the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the General Administration of Customs, and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine recently jointly issued the "Disease Prevention and Control 15th FiveYear Plan." Approved by the State Council, the plan sets out the goals and key tasks for building the disease prevention and control system by 2030. The plan proposes basically to establish a modernized disease prevention and control system with Chinese characteristics, enhance the capacities for infectious disease monitoring and early warning, scientific assessment, emergency response, medical treatment, and supplies保障, and strengthen public health research and personnel development. Focusing on key areas such as respiratory diseases, vectorborne diseases, bloodborne and sexually transmitted diseases, zoonotic diseases, and vaccinepreventable diseases, the plan lays out a number of prevention and control measures. In terms of system development, the plan emphasizes improving the joint prevention and control mechanism, advancing coordination and integration between medical care and disease prevention, strengthening prevention and control of infectious diseases at ports of entry and imported from abroad, while accelerating the digital and intelligent upgrading of disease control work. The document also calls for enhancing public health capacity, supervisory and law enforcement capacity, and communication and advocacy capacity, and for establishing a stable public health investment mechanism to promote the implementation of the plan.
