Anthropic, the developer of the generative AI "Claude," has opened a Seoul office and is fully launching its business in Korea. Anthropic Korea held a press briefing at Conrad Seoul in Yeouido, Seoul on the 17th to officially announce its entry into the Korean market. The company explained the background for its expansion, saying it views Korea as a market with strong AI infrastructure and high usage. Chris Chedrawi, Head of Anthropic International, said that Korea is a country with a regulatory framework and a semiconductor and infrastructure ecosystem, and added that Claude usage is also increasing rapidly. Regarding the U.S. government's latest export controls on models, it said the issue is limited in scope and expects it to be resolved soon. Anthropic also plans to accelerate cooperation with domestic companies and the expansion of the enterprise AI market, and explained that it is building partnership frameworks with companies such as Naver, Nexon, LG CNS, and Hanwha Solutions.
