President Lee Jaemyung concluded his threeday state visit schedule by attending the opening ceremony of the Naadam Festival in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, as the guest of honor on the 11th local time.
President Lee and First Lady Kim Hyekyung watched the opening ceremony at the National Sports Stadium together with Mongolian President Ukhna Khurelsukh. The Naadam Festival is Mongolia's biggest holiday and a traditional event registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. This is the first time a Korean president has attended the festival as the guest of honor.
At the event, a flagraising ceremony, a flamelighting ceremony, and a memorial service for Genghis Khan were held, and the presidential couple experienced traditional competitions such as horse racing, wrestling, and archery. It was reported that President Lee presented President Khurelsukh with a traditional Korean bow set at the state dinner the previous day.
