Ministry of National Defense: Fueling Japan's "new militarism" will intensify regional risks
Japan's military exercises spark controversy, Ministry of National Defense responds to the risks of strategic offensive deployments Follow China's stance and regional security trends to learn the latest military developments
On September 14, Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Jiang Bin responded to recent militaryrelated issues and commented on the joint exercise "Orient Shield 26" held by the Japan Ground SelfDefense Force with the United States and Australia in Hokkaido, Kagoshima, and other locations.
Jiang Bin said that this exercise, named with the word "shield," is in essence aimed at advancing the forward deployment of strategic offensive weapons, which may harm the security interests of other countries and increase the risks of an arms race and military confrontation in the region. The Ministry of National Defense firmly opposes this.
He pointed out that in recent years, Japan has continuously broken through the constraints of its pacifist constitution and the principle of exclusively defensive defense, developed longrange offensive weapons, and used foreign military exercises to promote "remilitarization," while also bringing in outside powers to create bloc confrontation. China urges the relevant countries to respect the security concerns of other countries, correct their wrong practices, and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.
