The Ministry of National Defense has decided to lift or ease 29.16 million square meters of military facility protection zones, including the Seoul Yongsan Children’s Garden and the area around the Susaek Airfield. This measure covers an area about 10 times the size of Yeouido and is the third adjustment to protection zones since the launch of the Lee Jaemyung administration. This time, the areas subject to the change include five places—Goseong County, Sokcho City, Pyeongtaek City, Goyang City, and Yongsan District—where restricted protection zones will be lifted, as well as Siheung City, which will be eased from a controlled protection zone to a restricted protection zone. In addition, flight safety zones in the areas of Mapo and Eunpyeong Districts in Seoul, Goyang City, and Sejong City will also be lifted. The Ministry of National Defense said it will reduce inconvenience to residents and support regional development within a range that does not interfere with military operations. This measure will take effect after its publication in the Official Gazette on the 22nd.
