The Taiwan Affairs Office responds to arms sales to Taiwan: China firmly opposes U.S.-Taiwan military ties Adhere to the one-China principle and beware of misjudging the situation through "seeking independence through force"
On June 3, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council responded at its regular press conference to U.S. Secretary of State Rubio's statement that arms sales to Taiwan are still under review. Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian said that the Chinese side firmly opposes any form of military contact between the United States and the Taiwan region of China.
Zhu Fenglian pointed out that the socalled "seeking independence through military means" leads nowhere and will not change the inevitable outcome of the failure of "Taiwan independence," nor can it stop the historical trend toward the reunification of the motherland. She also urged the U.S. side to abide by the oneChina principle and the three SinoU.S. joint communiqués, handle the Taiwan question prudently, and stop sending wrong signals to Taiwan independence separatist forces.
