The Democratic Party and the government are planning to introduce a special law on mega special zones to support mega projects within this month and aim to have it passed by the National Assembly within the year.
It was reported that the draft of the government proposal includes exemption provisions related to the 52hour workweek among the special measures to be applied to mega special zones. However, it was said that this is not a finalized plan, but only reflects a direction to go through social consensus.
The Democratic Party explained that it first reviewed the draft at the partygovernment consultative meeting at the level of bill wording. Opinions within the party are divided over whether to ease working hours, and some lawmakers emphasized that workers' rights and fairness between regions should also be discussed together.
