The Second Open Science Conference on Artificial Intelligence Empowering Astronomy Opens in Delingha, Qinghai

On August 4, the Second Open Science Conference on Artificial IntelligenceEnabled Astronomy opened in Delingha City, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province. Leaders, experts, and young researchers from nearly 30 astronomical research institutions around the world attended the conference and discussed the integration of artificial intelligence and modern astronomy. Haixi Prefecture, the host location of the conference, is promoting the integrated development of the Lenghu astronomical observation and research base and the Delingha submillimeterwave observatory site. Liu Jifeng, Director of the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said he hopes to build Lenghu into an AIdriven smart observatory, enabling telescopes to have environmental perception, autonomous diagnosis, and collaborative scheduling capabilities. Liu Qifan, Deputy Secretary of the Qinghai Provincial Party Committee, said that Qinghai is promoting the integrated development of "dark night sky, clean energy, and intelligent computing power," and hopes to use this conference to deepen cooperation with scientific research institutions, universities, and expert teams at home and abroad. Zhou Qi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice Premier of the State Council, also said that they will continue to rely on the worldclass optical observation site in Lenghu to advance the deep integration of AI with observation and theory, contributing to the development of the global astronomy cause.
