President Lee Jaemyung instructed the financial authorities to swiftly prepare supplementary measures regarding singlestock leveraged exchangetraded funds (ETFs) for Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. On the 15th, President Lee received 업무 reports from ministries including the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Financial Services Commission, and the Ministry of Planning and Budget at the Blue House, emphasizing that normalizing and advancing the capital market are important.
President Lee also requested that the socalled 'stock price suppression prevention law' be processed more quickly. This bill is an amendment to the Inheritance and Gift Tax Act intended to prevent major shareholders from artificially lowering stock prices in order to reduce inheritance tax burdens.
The government and financial authorities are reviewing several measures to protect investors and stabilize the market, including raising the base deposit requirement for singlestock leveraged ETFs and adjusting the rebalancing method. Related measures are also expected to be discussed at the market situation review meeting to be held on the 16th.
