China's seawater desalination daily treatment capacity surpasses 3 million tons

The scale of seawater desalination continues to expand, and the country's total capacity has reached 3.077 million tons/day Promote the improvement of supplementary water source capacity, and pay attention to new industry developments and the 2030 target

According to a message from the Ministry of Natural Resources, as of now, China's total seawater desalination capacity has reached 3.077 million tons per day, marking a further improvement in related treatment capacity. The report pointed out that the total scale of seawater desalination projects already built nationwide is currently 3.077 million tons/day, while the total scale of proposed and underconstruction projects exceeds 1 million tons/day. As the seawater desalination industry continues to expand, related facilities are playing a supplementary water supply role in more regions. In July this year, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Ministry of Water Resources jointly issued the Action Plan for the Development of the Seawater Desalination Industry, proposing to promote largescale utilization of seawater desalination and striving to bring the total scale of seawater desalination projects nationwide to 4.5 million tons/day by 2030, with newly added project capacity of more than 1.5 million tons/day.
