Zhenxiong Baliu Village Red Army Story: A Silver Bracelet and Chicken Soup Witness a Gratitude Story The old look of the Wumeng Mountain area has been transformed; come here to experience red memories and rural revitalization
Baliu Village in Zhaotong, Zhenxiong County, Yunnan, has recently drawn attention again because of a Red Army story. Local villager Lu Shaotuan recounted that in 1936, when the Second and Sixth Corps of the Red Army passed through the Wumeng Mountains, villager Lang Manyu once brought chicken soup to help He Long's wife Jian Xianren and the young He Jiesheng; Jian Xianren then gave the silver bracelet she had received as a wedding gift to the other party as a token of gratitude.
The article reviews Baliu Village's impoverished life back then: the mountainous area lacked water, transportation was cut off, villagers mainly survived on potatoes and corn, and housing conditions were rudimentary. Today, with the advancement of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, the village now has access to water and electricity, roads reach the village, villagers have moved into new houses, and tourism and educational study trips are being developed based on red culture.
The report also mentions that Lu Shaotuan now takes care of his granddaughter at home and also tells visitors this story, witnessing the changes in the Wumeng Mountains from poverty and isolation to continuous development.
