Controversy grew as evidence emerged of Kim Seung-won's false address registration and his children's school district change. Check the key issues ahead of the hearing, including his acknowledgment of educational intent and his planned explanation.
It has been confirmed that Kim Seungwon, nominee for Minister of Justice, engaged in a sham movein to change his children's school district.
According to reports, two of Kim's children filed a change of address registration to an apartment in Seohyeondong, Bundanggu, Seongnamsi, Gyeonggi Province, in February 2006, and a week later, the couple and their third child, who was then two years old, moved their address to an apartment in Suseonggu, Singheungdong, owned by the spouse. It was later found that they did not move back to Seohyeondong until October 2008.
The Seohyeondong apartment is known as an area with a highly preferred school district in the Bundang region, and the nominee's side acknowledged that there was an educational purpose, while expressing regret that the actual residence and the address on the resident registration changed. The personnel hearing preparation team said it would explain the related circumstances at the hearing.
