On June 9, the Chengdu Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision reported that, recently, with approval from the Chengdu Municipal Committee, a case has been filed to review and investigate serious violations of discipline and law by Zhang Yadan, former deputy secretary of the Dujiangyan Municipal Committee and former mayor of Dujiangyan. The report said that Zhang Yadan had problems including loss of ideals and convictions, resistance to organizational review, concealment of personal matters that should have been reported, violation of rules in seeking personnel benefits for others, receiving gifts and money, using his authority to seek benefits for relatives, and improper performance of duties in ecological and environmental protection inspection work. He is also suspected of using his position to secure gains for others in matters such as project contracting, and of illegally accepting a huge amount of money and property. In accordance with relevant Party discipline and laws and regulations, the Chengdu Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision has decided to expel Zhang Yadan from the Party and dismiss him from public office, terminate his status as a delegate to the 14th Chengdu Party Congress, and transfer the suspected criminal issues to the procuratorial authorities for review and prosecution in accordance with the law.
