The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that after Venezuela recently experienced an earthquake that caused severe casualties and property damage, China has expressed condolences to Venezuela and will provide emergency humanitarian assistance separately through the Chinese government and the Red Cross Society of China. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular press conference on the 26th that the Venezuelan government had thanked China for its condolences. China also said it would continue to consider providing more support based on the progress of the disaster. Guo Jiakun also revealed that two Chinese citizens have been confirmed dead in the earthquake. The Chinese Embassy in Venezuela is checking on the safety of Chinese citizens there and assisting in providing necessary help, while reminding Chinese citizens in Venezuela to beware of secondary disasters caused by the earthquake.
