Police have applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 70s, identified as A, who went on a knife rampage at the Ilmin Museum of Art in Gwanghwamun, Seoul.
The Seoul Jongno Police Station said on the 27th that A has been charged with attempted murder and preparatory arson. Police also added the charge of preparatory arson after confirming signs that A tried to set a fire before brandishing the weapon.
The previous morning, A stabbed and injured a male acquaintance in his 40s, identified as B, with a sickle at the Ilmin Museum of Art and fled in a taxi. He was later apprehended at an acquaintance's residence in Gwanak District after moving through areas including Samgakji in Yongsan District and Noryangjin in Dongjak District in Seoul, and police plan to investigate the motive for the crime.
