On June 9, Chinese Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang said that the armies of China and Mongolia held the joint exercise “Steppe Partner2026” from May 30 to June 6 at a joint training base in Inner Mongolia. The training focused on the joint crackdown on illegal armed organizations and centered on practical drills involving joint command, coordinated strikes, and other content. According to the introduction, the joint training made systematic use of unmanned and intelligent equipment. In particular, the mannedunmanned coordinated offensive combat training adopted methods such as liveforce confrontation and laser engagements, covering subjects including unmanned reconnaissance and strike, coordinated assault, obstacle crossing, and trench clearing. This is the second time the armies of China and Mongolia have held this series of joint exercises. Through exchanges on combat tactics and training methods, both sides further strengthened cooperation between the two militaries and enhanced their ability to jointly respond to security risks and carry out missions together.
