China's Ministry of National Defense: Fueling Japan's Military Ambitions Will Only Push the Region into a Dangerous Vortex
Japanese military exercises and the risk of remilitarization are rising, and the regional security situation remains tense The Chinese side warns of potential backlash effects and is monitoring more military-related developments
Chinese Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Jiang Bin said on September 14 regarding recent militaryrelated issues that any move that fuels Japan's military ambitions will push the region into a dangerous situation and may backfire on itself.
In response to the Japan Ground SelfDefense Force holding the joint exercise "Orient Shield 26" with the United States and Australia in Hokkaido, Kagoshima, and other places, Jiang Bin pointed out that although the exercises are nominally defensive in nature, they are actually promoting the forward deployment of strategic offensive weapons, undermining the security interests of other countries, and increasing the risk of an arms race and military confrontation in the region.
Jiang Bin also said that in recent years, Japan has continued to break through the constraints of its pacifist constitution and the principle of exclusively defensive defense, developing longrange offensive weapons and using foreign military drills to promote "remilitarization." China urges the relevant countries to respect the security concerns of other countries, correct their wrong practices, and safeguard regional peace and stability through concrete actions.
