Jiaxing Jiashan, Zhejiang, recently launched the 2026 Jiashan Urban and Rural Renewal Creative Design Competition, themed “Shancheng Weizhu,” attracting more than 200 representatives, including design professionals and faculty and students from universities across the Yangtze River Delta region and many other parts of the country.
This competition focuses on urban and rural renewal at the county level, selecting three types of realworld settings: idle rural farmhouses, urban parks, and old town squares. It is open to the public for submissions of proposals that combine creativity, feasibility, operability, and public value, with the hope of stimulating vitality in the area through smallscale, refined renovations and continuing the distinctive character of Jiangnan water towns.
At the event, several experts in architecture and planning discussed the direction of the competition site renovations based on Jiashan's locational advantages and watertown scenery. Registration for the competition will continue until November 10, the deadline for submissions is November 30, and expert review is expected to begin in late December.
