The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 1st that July exports totaled $98.89 billion, up 62.8% from the same month last year. This marks the secondhighest monthly performance on record, following June. The item that led export growth was semiconductors. Semiconductor exports rose 179% to $41.01 billion, also recording the secondhighest monthly performance ever, again following June. Exports of computers and wireless communication devices also increased. By region, exports grew in major markets such as China, the United States, ASEAN, and the European Union. July imports were tallied at $68.56 billion, and the trade balance showed a surplus of $30.32 billion. The cumulative trade surplus for January through July this year also widened to $168 billion.
