CAC of China Releases the "2025 Personal Information Protection Report"

On June 12, the Cyberspace Administration of China publicly released the "China Personal Information Protection Report (2025)" and answered reporters' questions about the report. The report systematically reviews China's progress in personal information protection in 2025, covering multiple aspects such as institutional development, regulatory enforcement, judicial protection, social cogovernance, publicity and education, and international cooperation. The report指出 that in 2025, China continued to improve its laws, regulations, and standards system for personal information protection, advanced the development of relevant judicial rules and typical cases, and carried out special governance focusing on key areas such as apps, SDKs, and smart terminals. Industries such as education, taxation, finance, and postal services also strengthened personal information protection in scenarios including recruitment, the college entrance examination, and delivery services. In terms of social cogovernance and publicity and education, relevant departments promoted industry selfdiscipline, compliance audits, and certification services, while also strengthening publicity and training for the public, practitioners in key industries, and minors. The report also noted that China continues to participate in international standards and exchange and cooperation related to personal information protection, promoting dialogue and pragmatic cooperation on crossborder data governance.
