National Pension Service return falls to 14.84% at the end of July amid weak domestic stock market

A decline in the National Pension Service's return, with weakness in the domestic stock market pulling down the fund's performance. Take a look at the causes, including the slowdown in overseas stocks and bonds, and check the trend.

The National Pension Service's fund management return rate for this year has been shown to have dropped sharply over the course of a month, due to weakness in the domestic stock market. According to the National Pension Service Fund Management Center, the yeartodate return rate as of the end of July stood at 14.84%, down more than 12 percentage points from 27.22% at the end of June. Over the same period, the fund's size also decreased from 1,866 trillion won to 1,684 trillion won. The decline in domestic stock returns from 107.37% at the end of June to 60.11% at the end of July had a major impact on overall performance. Returns on overseas stocks and overseas bonds also fell. The National Pension Service explained that uncertainty related to the Middle East, concerns over the sustainability of AI investments, and a drop in bond valuation due to rising interest rates led to the slowdown in returns.
