It has been reported that the joint investigation headquarters of the police and prosecutors has imposed travel bans on former National Election Commission Chair Noh Taeak and other NEC officials while investigating the 'ballot paper shortage incident' in the June 3 local elections.
The joint task force raided seven locations the previous day, including the National Election Commission, the Seoul Metropolitan Election Commission, and the Songpa, Seocho, Gangnam, Gwangjin, and Dongjak district election commissions. It was reported that they secured ballot paper printing plans, meeting minutes, and budget documents during the search.
It has been found that the search warrants named more than 10 people as suspects, including former Chair Noh, former SecretaryGeneral Heo Cheolhoon, and the chairpersons and secretariesgeneral of local election commissions. The investigation is focused on determining how the ballot paper shortage occurred during the election process and where responsibility lies.
