Pu'er’s “15th Five-Year Plan” will build an international eco-tourism destination

Pu'er’s “15th Five-Year Plan” development: green economy, prosperity through border-region development, and international eco-tourism advancing in parallel Upgrade of the tea and coffee industries, accelerated cultural tourism development in Jingmai Mountain, and a first look at new opportunities over the next five years

On June 12, Pu'er, Yunnan held a themed press conference titled "Getting Off to a Good Start in the '15th FiveYear Plan'" to introduce the development direction for the next five years. The local authorities stated that they will focus on building a demonstration zone for the green economy, a demonstration zone for enriching the people through development in border areas, and an international ecological tourism destination, while striving for an average annual GDP growth of about 5%. Tourist reception volume and total tourism spending will also continue to increase. Pu'er is located in southwestern Yunnan, bordering Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar, with abundant forest resources and a strong foundation in the tea and coffee industries. In recent years, following the successful UNESCO World Heritage inscription of the Cultural Landscape of the Ancient Tea Forests of Jingmai Mountain, local tourism has become significantly more popular, with both tourist numbers and longstay visitor numbers increasing. In the future, Pu'er plans to accelerate the creation of Jingmai Mountain National 5Alevel tourist attraction and develop new business formats such as teatourism, coffeetourism, study tour stays, and ecological wellness tourism. In terms of industry, Pu'er will continue to strengthen the tea, coffee, and underforest economy sectors, promote the deep processing of coffee and the upgrading of tea products, while transforming ecological resources into advantages for green development. The local area also plans to improve the layout of transportation and ports of entry, advance the construction of railway and airport projects, and raise the level of green development through ecological compensation and green finance, thereby driving improvements in people's livelihoods.
