At 21:43 Beijing time on July 5, China successfully launched the Qianfan PolarOrbit 15 satellite group into the planned orbit using a Long March 8A carrier rocket at the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site, and the mission was a success.
This launch was the first flight of the Long March 8A carrier rocket after an important upgrade. Relevant parties said that, through verification of key technologies such as orbital energy optimization and a new engine, the rocket's payload capacity has been further improved, and both the number of satellites it can carry in a single launch and the total weight inserted into orbit have reached new highs.
This mission also carried out integrated testing for the first time at the second vertical test position of the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site, marking a new model in which the Long March 8 series rockets operate with two vertical test positions in parallel. The report noted that this will help improve annual launch and test capacity and provide support for the deployment of China's lowEarthorbit satellite constellation.
