The Minister of National Defense inspected readiness on the eastern front and encouraged service members. He emphasized a firm response to provocations and a commitment to improving service conditions.
Defense Minister Kang Shincheol visited the Army’s 7th Infantry Division at the front line of the eastern front on the 24th to inspect the military readiness posture and encourage service members carrying out their duties during the holiday period.
After receiving a briefing on the operational situation at the GOP battalion command and control room, Minister Kang emphasized that if provocation or intrusion occurs, the military must respond quickly and decisively. He said that a stern and lethal response posture is necessary against the enemy.
He then visited an outpost to inspect service members’ living conditions, facilities, meals, and overall living environment, and said he would continue improving conditions for military service.
The previous day, Minister Kang also visited a frontline unit of the Army’s 25th Infantry Division on the western front, where he examined the situation related to the recent suspected landmine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone and comforted the service members. The military authorities plan to conduct an onsite investigation of the accident area together with the United Nations Command after the Chuseok holiday.
