A cooperation agreement has been reached for the international scientific program on digital sustainable development led by Chinese scientists

The International Science Program for Digital Sustainable Development, led by Academician Guo Huadong of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, recently signed a cooperation agreement with UNESCO to promote the program’s implementation worldwide. According to reports, the related thematic subforum was held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, and organizations including the FAO also cohosted the event. Over the next 8 years, the two sides will cooperate in areas such as international scientific research, technical support, data sharing, capacity building, science communication, and global network development. The program focuses on using digital technologies such as Earth observation, big data, and artificial intelligence to serve sustainable development, and has already been jointly initiated by Chinese research institutions together with scientists and international organizations from multiple countries. The article says that the related cooperation will also support the implementation of UNESCO’s "Operational Strategy for Small Island Developing States (20232029)" and the "International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development."
