Xi Jinping's Cultural Thought Guides China's World Heritage Nomination and Protection Practices

Xinhua News Agency reported that in recent years, China has continued to advance institutional development and practical innovation in world heritage nomination, protection, and utilization. The Jingdezhen handmade porcelain industry remains were successfully inscribed on the World Heritage List at the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Busan, South Korea, in July 2026, becoming China's 61st World Heritage site. The article reviewed several important milestones in China's efforts to promote world heritage work since the 18th CPC National Congress, including the nomination and protection processes of projects such as Liangzhu, West Lake, Gulangyu, Quanzhou, and the Beijing Central Axis, and emphasized the implementation of concepts such as "protection first, minimal intervention, and authenticity preservation" in heritage management.
