Mountain roads closed and facility damage continues amid nationwide heavy rain and strong winds

On the 20th, as heavy rain and strong winds continued nationwide for the second day, reports of fallen trees, road accidents, and flood damage came in one after another across many areas. Although no major casualties were reported, rescue and recovery operations were carried out in several places. In Gangwon Province, more than 223 mm of rain fell in Misiryeong, and access to hiking trails in the upper areas of Seoraksan was restricted. In Gangneung, some events of the Gangneung Danoje Festival were canceled or moved indoors. Several hiking trails on Hallasan in Jeju Island were also restricted, and reports continued of trees being knocked down by strong winds. Rainrelated accidents, flooding, and facility damage also occurred in Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, Busan, Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and North Jeolla. Authorities continued safety measures such as rescuing stranded anglers, draining flooded factories, and restoring fallen street trees and traffic signals.
