On August 5, UNESCO announced that it had officially confirmed Beijing as the 2029 UNESCOInternational Union of Architects “World Capital of Architecture.” The news was released in a Xinhua News Agency bulletin.
The title “World Capital of Architecture” was jointly established by UNESCO and the International Union of Architects to recognize cities that are exemplary in areas such as urban planning, architectural culture, and sustainable development.
Beijing’s confirmation means that in 2029, the city will participate in relevant international events and exchanges as the “World Capital of Architecture.”
